I recently visited this VASA location as a guest with a friend who is a member. My intention was simple: to walk on the treadmill and spend time with my friend while staying active. I was even considering getting a membership myself. Unfortunately, what should have been a casual workout turned into an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience due to the behavior of the front desk staff, who I believe was the manager.
She accused me of having a fake guest pass, which was not true. After finally confirming that my pass was legitimate, she proceeded to interrogate us about our fitness goals—a conversation that felt invasive and completely unnecessary. I politely tried to end the interaction, but she persisted, which left me feeling embarrassed, especially since this exchange happened in front of other members waiting to check in.
To make matters worse, she insisted on assigning a personal trainer to take us around the gym and refused to let us work out independently. She also forced us to complete a BMI scan, during which she compared my body to my friend’s in a way that was both inappropriate and unprofessional (she told me to lose four pounds and she told my friend to gain four pounds).
This entire experience was uncomfortable and left a negative impression. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt judged and scrutinized. If this is how guests are treated, I can’t imagine recommending this gym or becoming a member myself.
